Augustana College

Augustana College’s Student Government Association is recognized for translating student concerns into meaningful action. After learning that students, particularly international students and those without vehicles, faced challenges accessing groceries, medications, and other necessities, SGA partnered with Augustana College Express Service to launch a free grocery shuttle. The service transported students directly from campus residence halls to grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, and other essential destinations. Through this practical and inclusive initiative, Augustana College SGA demonstrated effective collaboration and a genuine commitment to improving students’ everyday lives. As this is just one example, their history reflects a consistent willingness to recognize unmet needs and respond with real solutions, embodying the values of a dedicated and forward-thinking student government

Joshua Rudnik

University of Northern Colorado

Joshua Rudnik stepped into the Presidency of the University of Northern Colorado’s Student Government Association for the 26-27 term with a bold agenda for transforming student life across campus. That agenda is rooted in a trajectory that’s given him a deep, hard-earned understanding of how SGA actually works. He climbed the ranks himself, starting as a senator, then serving as parliamentarian, where he ran elections and recruited students into the organization, before eventually being elected President. That institutional knowledge is now shaping how decisively he’s building his administration. Early in his term, that experience is already defining how he leads. He’s treating student engagement not as a given, but as a metric to actively grow, and he’s proving he means it by putting students, not the administration, in the driver’s seat, standing firmly behind what students actually say they want even when it runs counter to SGA’s own preferences. Backed by real experience and a clear commitment to student voice, Joshua is already showing what it means to lead with purpose.

Christine Zumwalt

Blue Mountain Community College

Although relatively new to advising student government, Christine Zumwalt has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to her role by actively seeking opportunities to learn, grow, and develop as an advisor. Rather than simply assuming the responsibilities of the position, she has, on numerous occasions, taken the initiative to expand her knowledge and invest in professional development to better serve her student leaders.  Her commitment to constantly learning and improving sets the standard for what a student government advisor should be, and it directly strengthens Blue Mountain’s Student Government as a result.
